There are many kinds of building defects including damp, decay and subsidence and other causes of cracks.  The diagnosis of building defects requires an understanding of how buildings are constructed and building pathology and a structured, methodical approach to the diagnosis.  Chartered Building Surveyors are uniquely placed and trained to diagnose building defects and recommend remedial action.

The depth of investigation necessary and the requirement to open-up the structure will depend on the problem and the evidence available.  Some defects require monitoring over a period of time to see if they are getting worse.

Depending on the nature of the defect and the required remedial work, we may recommend that we oversee the work through to completion.
